What have you been doing since 1975?
I went back to college in Springfield, Missouri for one year then returned
and got a job with my dad at the Arizona Silver Belt Newspaper. I worked at the Silver Belt for 10 years. I served a 4 year apprenticeship and became a
lithographer. During that time I married Jayce Petty in 1978. We've made
our home in the Claypool area ever since. Had our first son in 1981 (who by the way just graduated from MHS in May), had our daughter in 1983 and then
had our youngest son in 1985. After the youngest was born I decided to be a stay at home mom for a few years (8 years to be exact). During the time I
was home with the kids, I continued to keep my hand in the printing business by putting together a newspaper for Magma Copper Co. monthly. Because of
the affiliation with the newspaper, I was able to get a temporary position with Magma (now
BHP) back in 1994. Became a full-time employee in 1995 (eventually promoted to administrative assistant) and have been here ever
since. We built a brand new house up behind MHS and Lee Kornegay about 4 years ago.
We've done some traveling to Sweden, Denmark, Paris, and Hawaii. Having a
great life and plan on growing old together.
Memories of MHS:
My memories include learning how to run the Compugraphic Computer system for
the WarCry. Wow have computers come a long way since then! Never dreamed those long hours working on the paper would lead to a career. I remember
doing the school/work program in my junior year so that I could be in school all day my senior year so I wouldn't miss anything.
